BIOGRAPHY

Vili Polajnar (b. 1998) is a Slovenian composer whose works have been performed at prominent festivals such as Wien Modern, New Music Forum Ljubljana, and by leading ensembles like Ensemble Recherche. His music often integrates acoustic and electronic elements, interdisciplinary media, and innovative systems, such as live-generated scores and responsive algorithms.

Polajnar is currently pursuing his studies in composition with Prof. Johannes Kreidler at the Hochschule für Musik FHNW in Basel and is on an exchange with Prof. Martin Schüttler at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart. Previously, he studied with Prof. Vito Žuraj at the University of Ljubljana and with Prof. Sławomir Wojciechowski at The Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, where he focused on electronic music and composition.

His recent works include CASSANDRA – Choose The Truth (premiered in Stuttgart, 2024), Archive the Future (premiered by Ensemble Recherche in Freiburg, 2024), and Mastery of Emotional Slavery (Basel, 2024), which features an algorithm that processes music based on the emotions of performers or audience members. Polajnar’s interdisciplinary approach often bridges performance art, video art, and acoustic sound, creating immersive and dynamic musical experiences.

Polajnar’s works have been widely performed across Europe, including in Basel, Ljubljana, Warsaw, and Vienna, showcasing his blend of technology, emotion, and innovation in contemporary music.
